Well done to all our Year 11 students who received their GCSE results today. Students, parents and staff shared in celebrating some excellent results and personal achievements. Some students achieved exceptional results, including a large number of grade 9s in a range of subjects.

The headteacher, Martin Kerridge, said:

“On behalf of the entire school community, I congratulate our fantastic students on their achievements.

I am delighted to see substantial improvement in attainment across the curriculum despite the turbulence and uncertainty created by the changes to GCSE qualifications over recent years, capped by a number of exceptional individual performances.

With 10% of our entries for the new GCSE exams achieving a grade 8 or 9, and 60% awarded at least a grade 5, this year’s results are testament to the resilience and determination of our talented students and staff and the support of our parent body. We will, as always, look to build on this success and strive to provide the first class education our students deserve.”

Headteacher’s Statement

It is testament to the hard work and commitment of our students and staff that this year’s results build on the excellent outcomes achieved last year. 80% of entries achieved a C grade or above. Over 50% of our A Level students achieved 3 A*-C grades, with a further increase in the proportion of A* and A grades resulting in an average grade per entry of a ‘B-‘. Students following applied general and vocational courses also continued to achieve excellent outcomes, with an average grade per entry of a ‘Distinction-‘. It is also pleasing to note our 100% pass rate.

These achievements allow our students to follow the path of their choice, whether that be into higher education, apprenticeships or other further training. A significant number of our students will now progress to top universities and we are able to celebrate some exceptional individual performances.

We believe that our Sixth Form College provides a wonderful opportunity for students to fulfil their potential in a caring and vibrant community and we look forward to more students joining us in September.
