The very successful Visual Arts provide one of the strands for the school's current Arts Status and the Art Department has extended pupils' opportunities at Key Stage 3, GCSE and A level through increased course provision and access to practising artists and designers. GCSE pupils may opt for either Fine Art or Graphic Art and A Level students can choose to develop their skills through Fine Art, Textiles or Graphic Art.

We use AQA exam board at GCSE and GCE

KMC

Although skills in drawing and design work are an advantage, the main requirements for pursuing an Art course in Year 10 and 11 are a genuine interest, enthusiasm and serious commitment. For the interested, we can provide a good basis for a possible future career.

Last night at open evening Year 6 pupils, Ormskirk pupils, parents and staff got involved with a large scale art piece. They were asked to mix a variety of grey tones to copy small abstract sections. We have now put all the sections together to reveal the famous portrait.

I hope you can tell who it is! Year 6’s will be looking on the school website for the final artwork to see who the portrait is of.

Thanks to everyone getting involved (especially some of the Maths teachers!) we managed to get it completed. It will be put on display next week in School.

Thank you,
