In English, you will study and respond to a range of texts, both literary and non-literary.  These will include works by Shakespeare, other pre-1914 texts, as well as more modern material.  You will be required to write in a variety of styles and forms and there will also be a spoken English element.  The course in English Literature will develop from the English course and will involve the detailed study of a wider range of texts.
