“Curiouser and curiouser!”

The Drama department auditioned for roles for the school production in June 2016. A large group of students attended the auditions eager to demonstrate their talent and commitment to the School. Students read script extracts and sang audition pieces, after much deliberation the cast was chosen. The cast were tasked with learning their lines and lyrics to the songs over the summer break, ready to start rehearsals in September.

As School began in September 2016 - rehearsals started straight away. A detailed schedule was created which ensured all scenes, songs and dance routines were developed and perfected over the 5 week rehearsal period. Students worked incredibly hard to develop their characters, learn choreography and songs ready for performance.

A group of students worked with staff to prepare front of house for the performance, printing tickets, programmes and organising ticket sales and seating plans for the performance.

On Wednesday 19th October there was a matinee performance of Alice for 300 primary school children and their teachers. There was a real buzz in the air as the students arrived and waited to be seated. The students performed with passion and enthusiasm and the audience roared with applause, in appreciation of the performance. The cast then performed on that night for "student night" - to rapturous applause from their peers. The run continued on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night to great reviews from the local community.

Alice was another highly successful School production - with sold out nights every night of the run. Students performed to an exceptionally high standard, showing high levels of stamina and commitment to the department. Some audience members stated that "it was like going to a West End show." A massive congratulations and thank you to all staff and students involved in creating an imaginative and professional performance of "Alice."
