Headteacher's Blog

Our annual Careers Evening on Thursday saw the school host over sixty exhibitors, covering a diverse range of careers and sharing their expertise and advice with the large numbers of students and parents who attended. The evening was an incredibly enjoyable and positive one, with a focus on the idea that ‘your career starts here’. There are so many exciting opportunities for our young people and it was an excellent opportunity to connect the importance of their hard work in school to the idea of opening doors to their careers of choice. On behalf of the school I would like to thank all the exhibitors for their time and effort and share my appreciation to all who attended and supported the event.

On Friday the school was delighted to be able to celebrate the outstanding work of our support staff as part of the ‘Stars in our Schools’ awards. We are truly fortunate to have such a caring and committed team and it was fitting that our Chair and Vice Chair of Governors were able to represent the whole school community in expressing our appreciation and presenting some key awards.

I was delighted to meet with some pupils to hear how much they had enjoyed attending the Digital Kids Show. You can see some of the photos of their day on our Twitter feed.

This week the Foundation Trust Governors met to review a number of exciting projects and initiatives that were seeking their support. The Foundation Trust gives such positive support to the school, we are all very grateful to them. The experiences of our students are significantly enriched by not only the financial support of the Trust but also by the encouragement and inspiration that the Trust provides.

As we move into the final four weeks of the term, we have some wonderful events to look forward to: Duke of Edinburgh Award presentations, Winter Warmer Concert, Senior Presentation Evening and School Carol Service to name a few. We look forward to welcoming people to these celebrations; such remind us all that a school is a community, a family together.

In this spirit, I conclude the Blog with the words of Sam Walton: “We’re all working together; that’s the secret.”

Best wishes

Mr Kerridge.
