Below are the standard communication practices to be followed:

Who to contact:

Subject queries
If there is a specific query about a subject, contact the pupil’s subject teacher in the first instance. If that does not resolve the matter, please contact the head of department.

Online services
If you need assistance with the school’s on-line services (e.g. on-line payments), please contact the ICT Help Desk. A help section is also available on this website: Online Services for Parents.

Office and finance queries
If you have a general school or finance query, please contact the school office.

How to contact:

By email
Email contact is generally advisable for subject related queries.

Department contact details

Click on a member of staff's name to email them if you have a program set up on your computer to do so or note down the 2-3 digit staff code and add '' to make the email address.

By phone
The school telephone number is 01695 583 040. The school reception opening hours are: Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm. Outside of these hours, please leave a clear message on the answer phone. The message will be picked up the following morning.

If you telephone the school and ask to speak with the relevant person, please note that not all teachers have offices or phone extensions and you may have to leave a message with reception. Please ensure that you leave a message with the pupil’s name, pupil’s form, a brief indication of the query, your name and contact details.

When to expect a response:

Please note that teaching staff often have a full day of lessons timetabled, as well as break / lunch supervision duty, internal and external meetings and training sessions. It may therefore not be possible for a member of staff to return your call or reply to your email on the same day. Ormskirk School staff will endeavour to respond to parental queries within 48 hours (covering working days only). Note that any serious safeguarding issue will be dealt with as a priority.

Appointments at school:

Parents are always welcome in school by appointment. If you have made an appointment with a member of staff, please arrive on time for the appointment. You should report to reception on arrival and allow time to sign in at reception. A visitors badge should be worn while on school premises.

Please do not arrive at school and request to see a member of staff without appointment as you are likely to have a wasted journey. It is not possible to interrupt lessons.
