Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians,
I would just like to thank the amazing community of Ormskirk School for all the emails and telephone calls of support that school has received since we were instructed to close last Friday.
These really are unprecedented times and I will try my very best to keep you updated with regard to changes over the coming days / weeks. I appreciate fully that we will not get everything right – we have never had to consider distance learning on such a large scale before and as a school we are trying to navigate our way through it – as I know you are also. Please keep letting us know how it is going.
As a school we are also trying to help our wider community and one of our members of staff came up with the wonderful idea of offering our car park for the use of our NHS colleagues over the road at Ormskirk Hospital – we have contacted the hospital and made the offer.
Our science team donated 30 pairs of goggles to the hospital – they were greatly received by colleagues over there. A wonderful gesture thanks to the team.
In light of some recent educational research that our young people took part in, AQA curriculum science have kindly donated 600-700 pairs of brand-new goggles to the hospital also (surplus from the ASE Conference) – a great gesture from them to our NHS.
We have also distributed fliers to our neighbours / local residents on Wigan Road and Cross Hall Brow – with the offer that if they need some assistance, for them to contact the school and we will do our best to help.
Once again – thank you for all your kind words and support. It really is a privilege to be the Headteacher of Ormskirk School. Please stay safe and well in these difficult times.
