Dear Parents, Carers and Guardians,
We truly are in unprecedented times. As we enter our fourth school week of school closure – the sixth week in total – (although I am sure that the Easter break didn’t feel much different to any other day since the “lock-down” began) I would just like to thank the amazing community of Ormskirk School for all the emails and telephone calls of support that school has received since we closed.
We are all learning together during this difficult time and we really appreciate your feedback. I am tuned into the news every night to check for updates, but please be assured that we know as much as you all do, as to when some sort of normality will return. However, please be assured that when the time comes for the school to re-open, we will be ready to hit the “ground running”.
If you are concerned about anything at all, there is a skeleton staff in school looking after the children of government identified groups, undertaking essential tasks and keeping the main office open. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s Progress Tutor, Assistant Head of Year, Head of Year or school directly. We are here to help. I know that Progress Tutors, Assistant Heads of Year, Heads of Year and class teachers have been contacting our young people on a regular basis – I get to see some of the great conversations – and some of the fantastic work being done.
Events like this really bring out the best in everyone. I think the epitome of this crisis has been the wonderful story around Captain Tom. I will leave you with his wise words:
"You've all got to remember that we will get through it in the end, it will all be right, it might take time," Moore said. "At the end of the day we shall all be ok again."
Once again – thank you for all your kind words and support. It truly is a privilege to be the Headteacher of our wonderful school. Please stay safe and well in these difficult times.
